Montreal Doula Services

Kimberly Reine, Doula in Montreal

Kimberly Reine,
Montreal Doula

Planning on giving birth with a doula in Montreal? I am passionate about pregnancy and birth. When I became pregnant for the first time, I voraciously devoured every birth book in the library. It was like rediscovering a dormant interest in human reproduction that had remained buried since high school biology, when I had simply chalked it up to raging hormones. I followed the growth of the baby week by week, fascinated. But I discovered that when it actually came to the birth itself, the books contained a lot of conflicting information.

What I wanted was someone with practical experience to provide concrete advice. Someone to guide me towards the choices about giving birth in Montreal that would work for ME during this transformative time. Experiences that you have during pregnancy and birth stay with you for life and become a part of your personal narrative. A doula can support you and clarify the important options that are available as you embark on life’s greatest adventure!

What is a doula?

What is a doula?

What is a doula satisfying birth experience Montreal

A doula accompanies people in labour in order to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. Doulas will draw on their knowledge and experience to provide physical and emotional support. In addition, we share information and non-clinical advice to the birthing person and their partner.

I serve families in the Greater Montreal area, West-Island, Laval, Rivière de Prairies (RDP) and the South Shore. I am familiar with hospital settings, birth centres (maisons de naissance) and homebirths with midwives. I am proud to work with families of every possible configuration, be it same-sex couples, single-parents, surrogates and others.

I encourage potential doula clients to meet me beforehand at a café to see if we are a good fit. After all, I will be accompanying you for the (second) most intimate moment of your life. Book a free coffee consultation

What can you expect from me as a doula?

What does a doula do support birth husband partner

I will be on call for you, arrive at your home or the hospital when you need me, and remain with you continuously until after the baby is born. As your doula, I will meet with you and your partner several times before the birth to show you techniques and comfort measures and talk through what you can expect in labour. My job is help you and your partner to navigate the hospital system and feel confident, well informed, supported, and more than prepared to welcome a new life into the world.  As well, I will fully support you, judgement free, however you want to give birth. I like to make birth a positive experience and encourage families to enjoy labour. It is a birthday party, after all!

doula montreal

I planned on having a birth without interventions. When my doctor scheduled an induction, I suddenly felt like I NEEDED a doula! I was worried that it was really short notice, but Kimberly answered promptly. After an hour of talking on the phone, a miracle happened; me and my husband took a deep breath, looked at each other and said “this is it!” She had answers to all of our questions, she was very warm and calm. She also provided us many with useful recommendations…She also provided her mobile number and her own home’s and husband’s numbers in case we couldn’t reach her on her mobile!

birth coach

I am so happy to have had Kimberly’s support when my first daughter arrived. She helped us so much during the whole process, particularly during the stressful first weeks. Kimberly answered a lot of questions my partner and I had before her delivery, so I felt calm during the delivery. She is empathetic, knowledgable, patient, positive and kind. I feel so much more confident with her guidance and expertise. Three months later, we are both healthy and feeling energetic. I highly recommend working with her!

natural birth

I am very grateful to Kimberly for helping with my first birth! Our prenatal meetings thoroughly prepared me for natural birth. She got to my house as soon as I started having regular contractions, and helped me throughout my 15 hour labour without taking a break! I could physically feel relief from the pain of contractions thanks to her. She made a great team with my husband and she trained him in advance with several techniques at our prenatal meetings. I highly recommend Kimberly, especially if you are hoping and preparing yourself for the natural unmedicated birth and breastfeeding.
